Anupama Ramachandran Clinches Her Maiden World Title in a Dramatic Finale

India’s rising star Anupama Ramachandran has etched her name into the history books, capturing her first-ever IBSF World Women’s Snooker Championship title after a nerve-wracking 3–2 victory over Hong Kong China’s legendary Ng On Yee, a three-time World Champion.

The final delivered everything a world title match promises to deliver. All was here: the momentum swings, precision potting, tactical brilliance, and a climax that left spectators on the edge of their seats.

Ng On Yee struck first, taking the opening frame with her trademark calm and control. But Anupama, showing no signs of intimidation despite the stature of her opponent, responded with determination. She levelled the match in the second frame, settling quickly into her rhythm and signalling that she was ready for a long battle.

The contest intensified as both players traded frames, showcasing world-class cue ball control and mental resilience. With the final locked at 2-2, the championship came down to a decisive fifth frame, a fitting end to a duel between an emerging talent and an established great.

The decider unfolded like a sporting drama. Anupama built a healthy lead early on, but Ng On Yee, known for her fighting spirit, launched a strong comeback and eventually inched ahead. For a moment, it looked as though the Hong Kong cueist was on course for her fourth world title.

But the match took a stunning turn when Ng On Yee unexpectedly missed the black, leaving the door slightly ajar. Anupama seized the moment with remarkable composure, clearing the table to complete one of the most memorable victories of her career — and one of the standout moments of the 2025 championship.

Meanwhile, So Man Yan of Hong Kong China and Keerthana Pandian of India, both semi-finalists, finished with joint bronze, rounding off a highly competitive women’s championship.
