Liam Creates History with the Hat-Trick of Titles

Liam Davies from Wales has sensationalised the World of Snooker by achieving the rarest combination of winning all three titles for the World Junior Snooker category i.e. Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 in the same year on the same tour. Today he defeated Antoni Kowalski of Poland 5-1 in the final to accomplish this task.

Liam’s first victory came on the 18th of August when he won the World Under-16 title defeating Bulcsu Revesz 4-2. Liam continued his winning streak and nabbed the World Under-18 title too on the 22nd of August where he defeated Antoni Kowalski by winning the deciding frame 4-3.

For the Under-12 category, Liam was placed in Group F where he won all three matches at a cost of 2 frames each against Thijs Pauwels of Belgium and Mina Awad of Egypt.

After topping the group, Liam met Fabian Haken of Germany in the Last-21 stage and defeated him 3-1. Later he knocked out Yazdan Mokarram Dorri of Iran (4-2), Ayman Alamri of Saudi Arabia (4-0) and defending champion Florian Nussle of Austria (5-2) in the Semi-Final.

In the final, Liam once again met Antoni Kowalski of Poland, whom he defeated in the Under-18 category. Liam won the first frame before Antoni levelled the match by scoring a break of 54 in the second.

The third frame was too close that Liam won by only 1 point (69-68). After that, he didn’t look back and won the next three frames by a decent margin to secure his third consecutive title on this tour to Romania.
