Michal Szubarczyk: The Youngest Ever IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Champion

Michal Szubarczyk from Poland has made history by becoming the youngest IBSF World Under-21 Men Snooker Champion. At just 13 years old, Michal secured the title by defeating the 2023 Silver medalist, Alexander Widau from Germany, with a decisive 5-1 victory in the final.

Michal set the tone from the start, winning the first frame 86-65. Although he dropped the second frame 57-70 to Alexander, Michal responded with a strong 70-break in the third frame to take a 2-1 lead.

Despite Alexander’s efforts, including a notable 50-break in the fourth frame, Michal took advantage of an opportunity to win and extend his lead to 3-1.

The fifth frame proved crucial, with Alexander having chances to narrow the gap. However, Michal clinched the frame by potting a difficult black ball, taking a commanding 4-1 lead.

The sixth frame was a formality as Michal wrapped up the match with a 71-1 win, becoming the youngest ever IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Champion.

The semi-finalists, Tirdad Azadipour, who lost to Michal, and Lomnow Issarangkun, who was defeated by Alexander Widau, both earned joint bronze medals.

We conclude our coverage from Bengaluru and look forward to the IBSF World 6-Red Snooker Championships 2024 and the Mongolia World Cup for 15 Red Snooker, where we will meet again.
