WCBS Adopts IOC Recommendation Regarding Participation of Belarusian Athletes

Lausanne, Switzerland — 11 May 2026

The World Confederation of Billiards Sports (WCBS) acknowledges the recent decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board, which no longer recommends restrictions on the participation of Belarusian athletes and teams in competitions governed by International Federations and international sports event organisers.

Following this recommendation, and after careful consideration by the WCBS Board, WCBS has decided to lift the restrictions previously applied to Belarusian athletes, officials and teams participating in WCBS-sanctioned events.

Effective immediately, Belarusian athletes and teams may participate in WCBS competitions under their national flag and with full recognition in accordance with WCBS regulations and event rules.

WCBS remains committed to the fundamental principles of the Olympic Movement, including non-discrimination, the autonomy of sport, and the right of athletes to participate in international sport free from political interference.

At the same time, WCBS continues to stand firmly for peace, solidarity and respect among all members of the global billiards sports community.

WCBS will continue to monitor developments and maintain close dialogue with the IOC and its member federations regarding any future recommendations or policy changes.
