WCBS Announces Postponement of the WCBS Games 2026
Lausanne, Switzerland
The World Confederation of Billiards Sports (WCBS) announces that the WCBS Games 2026, originally scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, from 12–15 October 2026, have been postponed.
This decision was taken by the WCBS Board following careful consideration of the current situation in the Gulf region. While preparations for the event have progressed well, the Board believes that postponing the competition is the most responsible course of action in light of the ongoing regional sensitivities.
The decision reflects WCBS’s commitment to ensuring the safety, wellbeing and confidence of all athletes, officials, member federations, partners and stakeholders, while also providing the certainty necessary to deliver an event of the highest international standard.
WCBS President Farouk Barki said:
“The decision to postpone the WCBS Games was not taken lightly. Following extensive discussions, the WCBS Board concluded that postponing the event is in the best interests of our athletes, member federations and the wider billiards community. We remain fully committed to delivering an exceptional inaugural edition of the WCBS Games and believe that this decision provides the best opportunity to do so under the appropriate circumstances.”
The next edition of the WCBS Games will now be held in 2027, with the new dates and further details to be announced following consultation with the host and relevant stakeholders.
The WCBS extends its sincere appreciation to its member federations, athletes, officials, commercial partners and the Local Organising Committee for their understanding, continued support and cooperation.
The Confederation remains committed to providing a world-class platform that brings together the finest athletes from across the cue sports disciplines and looks forward to welcoming the global billiards community to the next WCBS Games in 2027.
