Anti-Doping Presentation for Participants of the World Nine Ball Championships
A day before the start of the 9-ball World Championship, an anti-doping training session was held for all participating players. Around 80 individuals gathered at the Targi Kielce Congress Hall. Marcin Krzemiński, WCBS Anti-Doping Director, provided key information on the rules for obtaining a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), the database of prohibited substances and methods, and the anti-doping educational efforts of WCBS and its partners.
A particularly valuable resource for athletes, clubs, and national federations is the cooperation with National Anti-Doping Agencies (NADOs). Through these agencies, athletes can access information in their native language, helping them navigate the process of maintaining a clean and safe sports career. As Krzemiński emphasized during the presentation, athletes must take responsibility for their own bodies and ensure that any medical products they use are not on the list of prohibited substances.
The training session was attended by several notable guests, including Ishuan Singh, President of the World Pool Association, Shane Tyree, Vice-President of the World Pool Association, and Piotr Stróżyk, Secretary of the WCBS Solidarity Anti-Doping Fund. The costs of the training were covered by the Polish Billiards Association and the WCBS Fund.
This session in Kielce marked the second educational campaign of the WCBS Anti-Doping Commission for the year. In total, 510 players, coaches, and billiard officials have been trained over the course of just a few months.
