The billiard world knew that it was inevitable: Myung Woo Cho would one day win World Cups and maybe even world championships. The young fellow from South Korea showed so much talent and dedication, the reward simply had to come. It came today, in Sharm El Sheikh. 

Lausanne , November 20th 2022

Today the prestigious Lausanne Billard Masters ended in the world capital of sport in the Helvetic city.
After two days of competition, it was time for the finals, the African team from AMECC prevailed 50/34 over the AMERICAN team from CPB, conquering third place, in the Asian Final they defeated Europe, the team made up of CHO and SON prevailed also 50 / 34 to the Europeans KILIC AND KOGELBAUER.

This promotion tournament leaves a good feeling and we trust that these projects help promote young players.

Donghae City, November 13th, 2022.

In a demonstration of skill and class, Tayfun Tasdemir has won the 2022 UMB 3-cushion world title. In Donghae City, South Korea, he defeated Ruben Legazpi in a one-sided final: 50-14 in 15/14 innings. For Turkiye, it had been a nineteen-year wait since Semih Sayginer was world champion in 2003.

A sigh of relief from Blomdahl, some champion stress for Jaspers, and brilliant moments from youngsters Cho and D’Agata. The most prominent casualties in the two days of group play: D.A.C. Nguyen, Jun Tae Kim, Pedro Piedrabuena, Murat Naci Coklu. After two long days, the best 32 players in the world are ready for the K.O. stage. The level of play is high in Donghae City, as the averages show. We’ll make a quick tour of all the sixteen groups.

The two main favorites for the Veghel World Cup shared the bronze. An outsider with great technical skills won the silver. But the day and the week belonged to the 60-year-old from Sweden: Torbjörn Blomdahl, who won his 45^th World Cup.

The Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) held its 32^nd Congress & General Assembly in Valencia, Spain, on Saturday, October 15^th, 2022.

The billiard world already knew he was a great talent. Now it is evident that he is a champion as well: 16-year-old Burak Hashas from Turkey is the new UMB 3-cushion Junior World Champion. In a spectacular but one-sided final, he beat Greece’s Dimitrios Seleventas to win the 2022 title: 35-10 in 19/18 innings.

What a triumph for Andrea Quarta! At the just-finished World Championships in 5-Pins- Billiards, the 40-year-old Italian won the title and thus secured his second World Championship after 2008.

In front of his home crowd in Calangianus/Sardinia, Quarta played a great final against the Argentinean Ricardo Dieguez, which he won in the end with 4:0 sets.

The UMB Ladies 3-cushion World Championship had a towering favorite: Therese Klompenhouwer. And the Dutch lady from Nijkerk delivered: undefeated in the tournament, never really in danger. She dominated the final against Korean talent Ji Eun Han from the start with an early run of eight and finished it 30-16 in 22 innings.

The 2022 UMB Seoul World Cup will mostly be remembered for the two majestic semifinals on Sunday. The final was, unfortunately for the talented Korean Myeong Jong Cha, a one-sided affair with Sánchez in control from start to finish: 50-19 in 16 innings. The Spaniard is turning into the main “angstgegner” for world champion Dick Jaspers, who has now lost five in a row to Sánchez. The Dutchman, however, remains solidly in first place on the world ranking.

Considering that the World Cup of Seoul (Korea) 2022, ends on August 28^th and that the participating players will be traveling back home in the period between 29^th and 31^st of August, the inscriptions for the World Cup of Veghel  (The Netherlands), that will take place from 23 to 29 of October 2022, will be published on September 1^st, 2022.

After 8 successful editions, the organizer of the Lausanne Billiard Masters (LBM) wished to change its formula in order to vary the type of competition each year.

Thus, with the UMB, it was decided that the LBM will act as an innovation lab by making it possible to reach various categories of players (for example Youth and Women) and to try out various game formats.
