The International Billiards and Snooker Federation in association with Federatia Romana de Snooker (FRS) are pleased to announce the 2022 World Junior Snooker Championship’s calendar of events for the U16, U18 and U21 categories.

Shane Van Boening is the champion of the world after beating Albin Ouschan in the 2022 World Pool Championship final at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes. Albin Ouschan got off to the perfect start as he began the defence of his World Pool Championship title at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes live on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and DAZN in the USA, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy as well as other networks worldwide.

Things weren’t looking so great for Wojciech Szewczyk Friday evening. In fact, they were looking downright bad.

In a way, Eklent Kaci’s biggest victory of 2021 was the fact that he made it to Las Vegas at all. 

The big Albanian had spent more time in his home country than he had hoped, missing a spring Matchroom event in England when his teammate couldn’t get a visa in time then missing a handful of additional events while waiting nearly three months for his “expedited” visa. Once he finally secured the proper credentials, Kaci was denied the opportunity to board his flight to the United States on August 29due to a reservation mix-up and was forced to skip the Diamond Las Vegas Open. 

Poland’s Wiktor Zielinski received the full U.S. Pro Billiard Series experience on Saturday night. 

Playing on the final day of the Alfa Las Vegas Open, he shut out Switzerland’s Dimitri Jungo 4-0 in the first set of the quarterfinals only to have Jungo defeat him by the same 4-0 score in the following frame. He survived back-to-back shootouts, first against Jungo and then against Billiard Congress of America Hall of Famer Mika Immonen in the semifinals. And in the finals against Aloysius Yapp, he looked like he’d miss his chance to snag the opening set only to have a fortunate roll toss it right back into his lap. 

The last World Cup on the American continent was held in Medellin, Colombia in 2013. Nineteen years ago, in 2003, it was the last time a World Cup was held in the USA. That was also in Las Vegas, Nevada. Semih Sayginer was the winner back then.

It’s good news for billiards to have a prestigious tournament in this hemisphere. After all, we are a global sport. And let’s not forget: the roots of the 3-cushion game lie in the United States.

Wu Kun-Lin had been close to the finish line in a handful of major events in recent years only to stumble when he reached the finish line. 

So, when he reached the last day of September’s Diamond Las Vegas Open, Wu was resolute to finish the job this time. So determined, that the 22-year-old found himself walking around the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino, host facility for the tournament, giving himself pep talks to try and remain composed. 

At the World 3-Cushion Team Championships in Viersen/Germany, Turkey successfully defended the title of 2019. The final between the Turks and the big surprise of the weekend, Team Colombia, saw very even games, especially in the first half. On both tables, the high series was missing.

The 16 years old boy from Pakistan has now become the new snooker sensation in the world. Here in Doha today, he won the most prestigious trophy of the World Snooker by defeating Iranian player Amir Sarkhosh.

Wendy Jans from Belgium has won the 8th World Women’s Snooker title of her career here in Doha, Qatar. In the final today, she defeated Thailand player Nutcharat Wongharuthai 4-1 in the best of seven frames match to regain the title that she lost in 2018. Wendy holds a record of winning 6 world titles in a row and also the highest number of World titles are in her name, which is now eight.

The Dutch player in his third consecutive final showed his strength by overcoming difficult moments during the tournament. The final match started with an equal score. In the tenth inning Jaspers took the lead with a run of 8 points, marking 17-10. After the break, Jaspers gained an important advantage at 38 – 14 in 12 innings with a run of 10.
