A World Championship is always an important event, no matter the sport.  No different for the 2022 WPA World Artistic Pool Championships that was held October 6-8 at the League Room in Parkersburg West Virginia.  The last WPA World Artistic Pool Championships was also held at the League room in February of 2020.  Chi-Ming Lin from Taiwan won the last event before covid, and he was back to battle it out with Artistic Pool Players from around the globe to defend his title.  The event is separated into two parts, the preliminaries and the playoffs.  During the preliminaries, players will shoot a total of 40 shots through out the eight disciplines of artistic pool with various degrees of difficulty. (6 point to 10 point) Players with the highest score in each of those eight disciplines will be that year’s World Discipline Champion and there was some history made with discipline titles this year.

The Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) held its 32^nd Congress & General Assembly in Valencia, Spain, on Saturday, October 15^th, 2022.

Francisco Sanchez Ruiz has won the 2022 US Open Pool Championship at Harrah’s Resort, Atlantic City beating Austria’s Max Lechner 13-10 in the final to shoot to World No.1 on the Live Nineball World Rankings taking home the $50,000 first place prize and becoming the first Spaniard to win one of pool’s oldest majors.

Malaysian Teams, Team 1 and Team 2 have both won the medals at the World Men Team Snooker Championships held in their country’s capital city Kuala Lumpur.

Pankaj Advani from India won his career’s 25th world title today at the High End Snooker Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he won the World Billiards (150-Up) Championship for the year 2022. In the final of best of seven games, Pankaj defeated his compatriot Sourav Kothari 4-0 in a one-sided battle.

Today at High End Snooker Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Waratthanun Sukritthanes of Thailand lifted her career’s second World Women 6Red Snooker title. In the final today she defeated India’s Vidya Pillai in straight sets of frames 4-0. Previously Waratthanun won the World Women 6Red Snooker title in the year 2018.

S. Shrikrishna from India has become the World Men 6Red Snooker Champion for the year 2022. He defeated Habib Sabah of Bahrain 5-1 in the final played here at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Thailand Masters’ team comprises of James Wattana and Noppadon Noppachorn won the World Masters Team Snooker Championship 2022 here at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after defeating Team Iraq of Ihab Al-Salih and Firas Kamil Shaba 4-0 in the final.

Aloysius Yapp successfully defended his Seybert’s Michigan Open title with a 4-2, 4-1 win over Robbie Capito in the final, and Kelly Fisher won her fourth Pro Billiard Series event with a shootout victory over Wei Tzu Chien in the women’s final at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.

The billiard world already knew he was a great talent. Now it is evident that he is a champion as well: 16-year-old Burak Hashas from Turkey is the new UMB 3-cushion Junior World Champion. In a spectacular but one-sided final, he beat Greece’s Dimitrios Seleventas to win the 2022 title: 35-10 in 19/18 innings.

What a triumph for Andrea Quarta! At the just-finished World Championships in 5-Pins- Billiards, the 40-year-old Italian won the title and thus secured his second World Championship after 2008.

In front of his home crowd in Calangianus/Sardinia, Quarta played a great final against the Argentinean Ricardo Dieguez, which he won in the end with 4:0 sets.

The UMB Ladies 3-cushion World Championship had a towering favorite: Therese Klompenhouwer. And the Dutch lady from Nijkerk delivered: undefeated in the tournament, never really in danger. She dominated the final against Korean talent Ji Eun Han from the start with an early run of eight and finished it 30-16 in 22 innings.
