Kudos to Joshua Filler, who emerged victorious in the 2023 Qatar Open 9-Ball championship and secured the coveted $50,000USD first prize! He showcased his prowess by defeating the formidable Ko Ping Chung with a score of 13-9 in a thrilling contest featuring a two-break format. Ko Ping Chung displayed exceptional skill and determination, earning himself a commendable $25,000USD as the runner-up. Heartfelt congratulations to both finalists and every participant in this exciting tournament.

The EXPO of Calangianus was ready this morning to show the final stage of this amazing competition.

In the morning session the two semifinals were planned.

On the main TV table the all-Italian team of Marco Zanetti and Michelangelo Aniello faced Luc Tran Thanh (Viet Nam) and Daniel Lopez (Italy). Zanetti made immediately clear his intentions scoring the 25 points of the carom fraction in only 6 innings, his opponent could only score 11 points. Consequently the road to the victory for Aniello in the 5-pins fraction was cleared. The final score was 200-154 for the Italians.

Fisher defeated Chieh-Yu Chou in 2 sets to claim her second consecutive Michigan Open victory.

The final day in Battle Creek, Michigan couldn’t have been more exciting, with women’s Final 4 showcasing an outstanding level of play.

Aloysius Yapp appeared virtually unbeatable in Battle Creek. When he orchestrated a comeback from being one set down against Gorst in the semifinal, the enticing chance at a third win in a row in Michigan seemed well within reach. Only one polish player could stop his dream: Wiktor Zieliński.

After 11 years of not having a World Artistic Championship, the world has a new champion, and his name is David GONZALEZ from Mexico. He took the crown in his first appearance at a world championship with an overall average of 73,35%, which is not really far from the world record!

The World Championship for juniors is still firmly Korean territory, even after Burak Hashas won the title last year. With four titles for Haeng Jik Kim, one for Tae Kwan Kim and three for Myung Woo Cho, the Asian stronghold has dominated the junior event since 2007. 

Was she inspired by Phuong Vinh Bao, the surprising men’s world champion? Or maybe by her Korean colleagues, such as Myung Woo Cho and Haeng Jik Kim? Fact is, that Lee Shin Young established herself as a top player this week, winning the world title convincingly in a final against Japan’s Yuko Nishimoto: 30-18 in 26/25.

Han Yu, a formidable contender in the women’s world of billiards, emerged triumphant once again as she defeated fellow women’s world champion Liu Shasha with a score of 9-7 in a thrilling showdown to secure her second Women’s WPA China Open 9-Ball Championship title.

Joshua Filler Secures Second WPA China Open 9-Ball Title with Victory over Anton Raga

Joshua Filler clinched the coveted title of WPA China Open 9-Ball Champion in a thrilling final match, defeating his opponent, Anton Raga, with a commanding score of 11-5. This remarkable achievement marks Filler’s second triumph at the prestigious China Open 9-Ball tournament.

Never before had a World Championship final been contested between two Vietnamese players, and never before had a debutant won the world title. It happened against all odds in Ankara, Turkey today. Phuong Vinh Bao, a 28-year-old economy graduate defeated his countryman Quyet Chien Tran in a convincing manner: 50 – 34 in 33.

The IBSF is glad to inform you that Doha, Qatar will be the next destination for the World Championships for the year 2023. The championships will be played from 05 November till 24 November 2023 with players and referees meeting on 04 November.

Nikos Polychronopoulos (45, Greece) claimed his first career victory in the three-cushion  survival competition held in four years.

Polychronopoulos, who had failed four times in Billiards World Championship and World Cup finals, accomplished a feat after a 25-year playing career with this win.
